Getting a Library Card

You may get a free library card if you are a resident of Forest Park with proper identification and proof of present home address. We also honor cards from other Metropolitan Library System member libraries, including the Chicago Public Library.

To get a library card, you need a valid photo ID and two proofs of residency, such as a current lease or mortgage, recently-delivered bill or imprinted check. If your photo ID shows a Forest Park address it will count as one proof of residency.

Take good care of your library card; it is a credit card worth thousands of books, magazines, CDs, audio cassettes, videos and toys for your enlightenment and enjoyment. Should your card get lost or stolen, report it to the library immediately. You are responsible for items checked out on your card until you notify the library that the card is lost or stolen.
